Séminaire MFS (ICARDA - IFRAI - SICMED)
Organisé conjointement par le GIP-IFRAI (INRA-CIRAD), le Projet SICMED (IRD-INSU-INRA) et l'ICARDA les 18 et 19 Mars 2010, le séminaire "Systèmes de production méditerranéens et leurs conséquences sur la gestion de l'eau, la conservation des sols et la qualité des paysages à l'échelle des territoires" a rassemblé sur le Campus SupAgro-INRA de Montpellier une cinquantaine de chercheurs.
Vingt provenaient des organismes de recherche agronomique des pays du Maghreb et du Moyen-Orient ainsi que du Centre International de Recherche Agronomique sur les Régions Arides (ICARDA, Alep, Syrie).
Deux séances plénières ont encadré 4 ateliers thématiques spécialisés ; les travaux du séminaire ont été focalisés sur la gestion durable des agrosystèmes méditerranéens dans le contexte de l'accroissement de la demande de produits alimentaires, de la raréfaction et de la dégradation des ressources en eau et en sols accentués par le changement climatique.
Lors de la session finale, il a été selectionnée 4 agro-écosystèmes d'importance sur le bassin méditerranéen :
Agro-écosystèmes irrigués,Agro-écosystémes pluviaux,Systèmes agricoles péri-urbains,Pâturage et arrière pays.Des groupes ont été attitrés pour la rédaction de rapports soulignant les questions d'importance de chaque agro-écosystème :

Organized jointly by IFRAI (INRA-CIRAD), SICMED and ICARDA, the seminar "Mediterranean Farming Systems producers of water, soil and landscape at the local level" took place March 18-19, 2010, and gatherd around 50 scientists and researchers on the INRA SupAgro campus.
Twenty of them were coming from agronomy research institutes of Maghreb and Middle East countries (as well as as from the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA, Alep, Syria).
Two plenary sessions and four thematic workshops were scheduled The seminar focus on the sustainable management of mediterranean agrosystems in a context of continous growth of the demand in food products, degradation and scartcity of natural resources (water and soils) emphasized by climate change.
In the final session of the meeting, 4 main agro-ecosystems have been selected:
Rain fed agro-ecosystems, Irrigated agro-ecosystems, Peri-urban agro-ecosystems,Rangeland pastoralism and Hinterlands.Groups have been appointed to write a report highlighting the main questions for each agro-ecosystem:
